Sorry Gliderrider, maybe I misunderstood. Are you saying there's an affordable 1928 conversion kit in the pipeline for it? Or do you mean you'd keep your exisitng TM as an M1A1 & convert the CYMA one using the (very expensive) Mosquito Moulds kit?

Cheers.

John. :)

Well I have my Chinese Thompson now first impression out the box is great!
Has small battery terminals and + & - polarity are wrong as usual.
Mags are TM compatible.
You can see the Chinese have strengthened the TM barrel connection.
Top is the TM Thompson with a fix kit on the barrel.

Here I have the TM mag in the Chinese gun.

I have just test fired it and it is far far better than a standard TM out the box, the range is about 1/3 farther than a standard TM.
I have just ordered an other

Yes I know shameles tank plug

thanks for the review oddball,

i think that one of the copyright theives in the chineese development team , MUST ACTUALLY PLAY AIRSOFT
the design changes seem to be made by people who have played.

yet again , the chineese come up trumps

im glad ive not got shares in TM, G+G and all the other "HIGH PRICE" manufacturers

to quote a certain, old and sweaty man, "ill by two or three for the cost of one of them, when they break why bother fixing it"

Spiers reports Thompson seemed to perform well in Wales despite the weather and very few occasions to use it.

is it still developing barrel wobble and in need of a fix kit or have they strengthened it enough?

I didn't know Thompsons suffered from barrel wobble.
In anycase it would be hard to say so after only having it for 3 days, I have had my TM for 2 or 3 years I don't see how the fix kit removes barrel wobble locktight on the screws would probably do more to stop such a problem.
If you look at the barrel on the ACM they have cast a web to strengthen it so I suppose it will be more rigid, but the fitting of the barrel as far as I can see is the same as the TM and is still made of alloy so could still snap.
Time will best tell when we get long term use from people.

I hope this helps look at the pictures make your own mind up, they have obviously made these changes for a reason.

Spiers now owns the above Thompson but I have ordered an other.

basically because of the way the barrels fixed when slung it bends the join and it eventually snaps. time will tell i guess

by the sound of what you're saying tho a barrel fix kits still in order

Here is a replacement connector you can crimp and solder on to allow you to use a large battery.

I think this is the right one GZ99H.

Now I've had a decent play with it I can offer up aslightly less fan boy type response.

I've handled alot of chinese clones and IMO this one has the best build quality out of the lot. Its very sturdy and feels like its been made from decent materials. No real creaks or rattles and no parts that feel like they're going to fall or snap off.

It sounds fantastic when it fires. Nice and loud and distinctive. and to quote a member on acsuk it feels like it wants to punch holes in people. The gearbox feels very well tuned and makes the whole gun feel forceful. cant wait to try it out and get it chrono'd on sunday

the only downside is the plastic furniture feels cheap but I'll get a wood kit eventually so that doesnt matter.
